Tree pruning and felling in the Algarve

A tree felling company that actually climbs

Plenty of Algarve trees have outgrown their gardens. Stone pines touching the roof, eucalyptus ten metres from the house, ficus roots lifting the paving, old carob trees dropping limbs. This is the work we do.

We prune to reduce the crown, remove dead or dangerous branches and let light back into the garden. When a tree is dead, diseased or simply in the wrong place, we fell it, in sections when there is no room to drop it whole. Rope access gets us into places a crane never could.

What is included

  • Tree pruning

Crown cleaning, crown reduction, formative pruning and safety pruning. Also olive, citrus, carob and almond trees.

  • Tree felling

Felling of trees of any height, whole or in sections, with rope-controlled lowering.

  • Work at height

Rope access and lifting platform for trees next to houses, walls, power lines and pools.

  • Storm damage

After storms we cut up and remove trees that have fallen on roofs, fences and driveways.

  • Stump removal

Stumps and roots removed with a mini digger, ready for replanting or paving.

  • Chipping and waste removal

Branches are chipped on site or taken away. The firewood stays with you if you want it.

When to call us

Call us before the tree becomes a problem:

  • Dead or broken branches over the house, the car or where children play
  • Hollow trunk, fungus at the base or cracks in the bark
  • A tree leaning after a storm, or with roots showing
  • Roots lifting paving, walls or the pool
  • A crown so dense it blocks light or touches power cables
  • Pine trees with processionary caterpillar nests

How the job runs

Four steps, with the price agreed before we start

  1. 01

    Visit and quote

We look at the tree, the access and what surrounds it. We tell you whether to prune or fell, and give a price.

  2. 02

    Preparation

We protect roofs, paving and plants. If a permit is needed, we sort that out first.

  3. 03

    Cutting

We climb or use the platform and cut in sections, lowering each piece under control.

  4. 04

    Clean-up

Branches are chipped, logs are cut and the site is left clean.

What affects the price

The cost of tree pruning or felling depends on:

  • Height and trunk diameter
  • Species (a eucalyptus is cut very differently from a pine)
  • Access: whether the truck and chipper can reach the tree
  • What surrounds it: house, pool, walls, cables
  • Whether we remove the wood and waste or leave it on site
  • How many trees are in the same job

That is why we do not quote over the phone without photos. Send us pictures on WhatsApp and you will have a quote the same day, no obligation.

Common questions

Answers before you call

Do I need a permit to fell a tree on private land in Portugal?
For most garden trees, no. Cork oaks and holm oaks are protected by law and need authorisation from the ICNF, even on private land. Olive trees sometimes do too. Trees classified as being of public interest are never cut without permission. We tell you where you stand and help with the application.
How much does it cost to cut down a tree?
A light prune on a small tree costs a fraction of felling a 20-metre eucalyptus next to a house. The difference is height, access and risk. Ask for a free quote with photos and you get a firm figure the same day.
When is the best time to prune trees in the Algarve?
Winter for most deciduous trees. Citrus and olives are pruned in late winter and early spring, after any frost. Pines and other conifers in autumn and winter. Dangerous branches come off at any time of year.
Do you take on very large trees?
Yes. Eucalyptus, pines, cypresses and tall palms are our everyday work. We dismantle them in sections with rope-controlled lowering, even in small gardens.
What happens to the branches and wood?
We chip the branches on site and take the chips away, or leave them for your beds. The wood can be cut into logs for your fireplace or removed. Just say so when we quote.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and use full personal protective equipment. On jobs next to houses we always protect roofs, paving and plants.
